Important information:
Due to the rising COVID figures in Germany and Austria we have to cancel the on-site part of the PHEDM-Hirschegg Workshop 2022.
The workshop will be held online via Zoom only.
PHEDM-Hirschegg Workshop 2022
42$^{nd}$ Workshop on High-Energy-Density Physics with laser and Ion beams
We are delighted to announce that the 42nd Hirschegg Workshop will take place at Darmstaedter Haus in Hirschegg from January 31$^{st}$ to February 4$^{th}$, 2022. An online participation is also possible.
Scope of the meeting
The completion of the FAIR SIS-100 synchrotron tunnel in the summer of 2021 in Darmstadt is a significant milestone towards the completion of this major international HED facility. This year, the Program Committee for the 42nd International Workshop on High-Energy-Density Physics with Intense Ions and Laser Beams encourages contributions from the HED@FAIR community for the commissioning and first physics experiments at FAIR. The Committee also encourages participation from the international HED community on the following topics:
- advances in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) and inertial fusion energy (IFE),
- advances in the broader field of laser-plasma interaction physics, lasers as secondary radiation sources, strongly-coupled-plasmas and warm-dense matter, shocks and EOS, and nuclear photonics.
In addition, the workshop will be structured to provide students and young scientists an opportunity to learn about HED/ICF science and the opportunities afforded by key international HED facilities, the process of international scientific peer review and collaboration, and scientific presentation skills.
Organisational details
The meeting is expected to utilize a hybrid format allowing both limited on-site attendance and participation via Zoom - specific details to follow.
A participation on-site is exclusively for people who have been fully vaccinated or recovered - see requirements here and only for participants staying at Darmstaedter Hause. Priority will be given to people making a scientific contribution.
Please wait for our information on room assignment, before making any travel arrangements.
Registration starts on November 1$^{st}$, 2021.
