About the host

The Centre Léon Bérard in Lyon is a leading French hospital entirely dedicated to the fight against cancer. Located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, it serves as a comprehensive Centre combining patient care, research, and education. Its mission is to provide high-quality, personalized cancer treatment while advancing scientific knowledge through cutting-edge research and clinical trials.

The Centre is a member of UNICANCER, the national federation of cancer Centres in France, and is recognized for its excellence in oncology, radiotherapy, surgery, and supportive care. It also plays a key role in training healthcare professionals and developing innovative therapies in collaboration with academic and industry partners.

Léon Bérard is one of the two clinical partners involved in the European Uplift project. Having access to a prototype upright positioning system, the Centre will help establish clinical workflow strategies that consider both proton therapy and IMRT, including their synergies and differences. The Centre will also be hosting the first UPLIFT doctoral school in November 2025 in its newly built amphitheatre.
