Beschreibung

Jet modification in heavy-ion collisions is typically attributed to parton energy loss in the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). Yet, the preceding pre-equilibrium Glasma phase features remarkably large gluon densities and transport coefficients, raising the question of how much jet modification occurs prior to QGP formation. Because early-time jets are highly virtual, their evolution is dominated by a vacuum-like shower. We investigate how this vacuum shower is modified by the early-stage dense medium.

By calculating parton splitting in a dense background field while keeping track of the jet's finite virtuality and formation time, we examine how the medium alters the early time cascade. This is crucial for understanding the competition between vacuum radiation and medium-induced effects, particularly in small systems where Glasma phase may be more prominent.
