Notes on version 3.3
Indico 3.3 has many new features. The most important ones are:
- Better configuration options for data protection/privacy:
- Privacy dashboard for events: a data controller can be namend individually for an event and an individual privacy notice can be given.
- The visibility on participant lists can be configured; participants are asked for consent to be listed.
- The retention period of all registration data and/or of particular fields in the registration form can be limited.
- The registration form has been completely reworked, especially accompanying persons can be added to a registration.
- Account creation and event registration is protected against spam bots with a CAPTCHA. When registering for an event, the CAPTCHA is only shown to users who are not logged in. It is also possible to turn off the CAPTCHA completely in the registration configuration.
- Many new languages are now supported by Indico, among them German. This language support is done mostly by contributions from the Indico user community. Some phrases may still show up in the basic language English.
- The accessibility of Indico has been improved in many aspects. This is one of many contributions of the United Nations Office at Geneva which intensivly uses Indico and contributes to its development.
- Meeting/lecture themes:
- There are new meeting themes with numbered entries without showing the times of contributions.
- For the FAIR-GSI themes a more compact logo is used.
- The FAIR-GSI meeting theme is also available in the numbered version.
- More new features:
- A build-in basic search for events, contributions, categories, ...
- Categories may now contain a mix of both events and subcategories.
- User avatars/profile photos are used in more places, e.g. lists of participants. If you do not want that do not upload a profile photo.
- The old API key system is now considered obsolete and will be eventually removed in a future Indico version. Instead the new API tokens should be used from now on.
- Last but not least: The Zoom integration is working again, i.e. Zoom meetings can be directly created within an event. For more information see these notes about the Zoom plugin.
