Europe/Berlin Zeitzone

GSI has recently proposed SIRIUS, a multi-kilojoule laser facility, to the German research infrastructure roadmap. The SIRIUS information meeting brings together scientific participants and interested attendees to present and discuss the core vision, technical concepts, and development strategy of the facility, as an initiative with the potential to advance high-energy-density research at FAIR and inertial confinement fusion research for Europe and Germany. We are delighted to host this online meeting on September 14, 2026 from 14:00 to 17:30 and invite the scientific community to join the event.

Scope of the meeting

The SIRIUS workshop is structured to give an overview of the facility concept and foster collaboration on the following topics:

  • Facility Vision & Roadmap: An intro to the overall facility and the strategic laser fusion roadmap.
  • Science Cases: An overview on the research enabled by the SIRIUS facility.
  • Technical Overview: A look into the facility’s architecture and technical parameters that are envisioned.
  • Open Discussion: An opportunity for participants to talk about current technical bottlenecks, development activities and discuss collaboration possibilities.

Whether you are directly involved in the scientific community or interested in the future of laser fusion technology, we are looking forward to your participation!
