Picosecond resolution on Time-of-Flight measurement within the SOFIA experiment (S415) 25m
We developed a ToF system for relativistic heavy ions with a requested resolution of 40 ps FWHM using a 900x600 mm² ToF wall as STOP detector. Such resolution and STOP detector size are mandatory to assign the correct mass number to every fission fragment, identified using the Brho-ToF-dE method with the recoil spectrometer designed for the SOFIA experiment - which hold very recently at GSI. To achieve such a performance, fast plastic scintillators read-out by dedicated PMTs were chosen among other possible options. Some considerations on our technological choice will be presented. Through several ToF measurements using electron pulses and relativistic heavy ions, respectively provided by the LASER driven electron-accelerator (ELSA) at CEA-DAM-DIF and by the SIS18/FRS facility at GSI, we have demonstrated that our ToF setup can provide a time resolution of about 20 to 40 ps FWHM for the detection of relativistic heavy ions. This excellent ToF resolution is confirmed by our very preliminary results on fission fragment mass reconstruction obtained in the analysis of the SOFIA experiment.

Nuclear charge measurement of realtivistic heavy ions 25m
The SOFIA experiment, held at FRS/R3B last year triggered several technical developement. One of them led us to measure the nuclear charge of fission fragments with a very high resolution. We'll discuss the technical achievements on both the detector and the electronic sides.

The AsyEOS S394 experiment at GSI: first preliminary results 30m
The AsyEOS Collaboration aims at improving the knowledge of the asymmetry part of the nuclear equation of state. The purpose of the recent experiment S394, performed at GSI in May 2011, is to determine the behaviour of the asymmetry potential at supra-saturation density, using the ratio of the strengths of the elliptic flow of neutrons with respect to that of protons in heavy-ion reactions at relativistic energy. The method, the motivations and the experimental set-up will be presented, along with the most recent results, which quality is promissing.
