Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) is a research topic that goes back a long time in history at TU Darmstadt and GSI. With the recent developments at the National Ignition Facility and a renew interest of the private sector in Europe for laser-driven fusion, a shift in interest of the scientific community can be seen worldwide.

In Darmstadt, the founding of Focused Energy in 2021, which ambitions to play a major role in Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE), creates the conditions for a growth in activity around plasma-physics-retade topics.

This 1/2 day meeting aims at brainstorming on collaborative topics between the Hemholtz centers GSI and HZDR, the Helmoltz Institute Jena and Focused Energy.
