Description

Unique opportunities for various studies in nuclear structure and astrophysics across a broad range of fields and scales will become available at the FAIR facility. These include investigations of multi-cluster systems and halos, high-density nuclear matter, the equation of state, fission, the study of short-range correlations in nuclei, and hypernuclei. In the past, the SIS accelerator at the GSI generated new physics and unexpected results, fomenting a plethora of new developments in nuclear theory. In this talk I will discuss a few ideas of what can be done at FAIR and the expected unexpected. If you build it, theorists will come.
