The Nuclear Equation of Stateöcker
Our understanding of the nuclear many body system and the nuclear equation of state has evolved in essential ways during the four decades of Horst Stöcker’s scientific life. Thermodynamic, quantum statistical, hydrodynamic, and transport theoretical aspects of our understanding of nuclear collision processes were revolutionized and refined repeatedly. Sub-nucleonic degrees of freedom were explored. Most importantly, fundamental connections between the big astrophysical questions and laboratory experiments at GSI/FAIR and other leading laboratories around the world were established. Horst, his students, and his collaborators played an essential role in all of these developments. This talk will review the major milestones of his journey.
