Description

After the first historical observation of two colliding neutron stars, the emergent multi-messenger astronomy will provide us with new ways to constrain the nuclear Equation of State (EoS) and to explore the properties of neutron-rich matter. Even stronger constraints can be imposed by combining this information with independent measurements in terrestrial laboratories. Structure and collisions of heavy nuclei provide a portal to study neutron-rich matter. The talk will address the status and perspectives of different terrestrial experiments that aim at understanding the EoS and how they complement the astronomical observations of neutron star properties and gravitational wave signals.
