HEPTrepreneurs Training School

We are pleased to announce the third HEPTrepreneurs Training School in Darmstadt.

Title: Hidden Sales for the Non‑Sales Person – Selling Your Ideas, Your Work, and Yourself

Speakers: Ian Tracey & Anke Lohmann, Anchored in

Where: TBA

What to expect: This one‑day HEPTrepreneurs Training School at GSI/FAIR helps researchers and professionals become more confident and effective in “selling” their ideas, projects and capabilities – even if they do not see themselves as sales people. Building on last year’s workshop on negotiation and conflict resolution, the training focuses on the step before negotiation: convincing others clearly and honestly in different settings. We will explore how “hidden sales” appears in everyday research life, how to present yourself for jobs and fellowships, how to frame startup and innovation ideas for non‑experts, and how to make stronger grant and proposal applications. The day combines short inputs with interactive exercises, case discussions and Q&A. One block will be tailored to topics suggested in advance by you. Selected sessions will be streamed to enable remote participation.

About the Speakers: Following on from the HEPTrepreneurs 2023 Training School, we are pleased to welcome back Ian Tracey and Anke Lohmann from Anchored In, who will guide you through the programme.

Ian Tracey is CEO of Anchored In. He has over fourteen years' experience in helping leaders working in research and technology-intensive environments to realise their potential, build their teams, turn their ideas into businesses and win investment. He has worked with SMEs and organisations such as STFC, CERN, Innovate UK, Innovate UK Business Growth and Innovate UK Business Connect.

Anke Lohmann is the Founder and Chair of Anchored In. Throughout her career, she has worked across academia, start-ups, SMEs, and multinational companies, covering the full innovation journey from applied R&D and product development to technology commercialisation and innovation policy. She has extensive experience in connecting research with industry, including establishing the UK’s national quantum technology network at Innovate UK KTN. Today, she supports researchers, companies, and policymakers in accelerating innovation, translating technologies into real-world impact, and developing innovation strategies.
