R-process β decay neutrino flux from binary neutron star merger and collapsarONLINE ONLY

In this presentation, I will talk about a relatively less discussed MeV antineutrino production mechanism, specifically focusing on the β-decay of r-process nuclei. These processes tend to occur in the astrophysical settings of binary neutron star mergers and collapsars. While these events are known for their importance, the study of MeV antineutrino production within them by r-process has been somewhat limited. Throughout the presentation, we will examine neutrino energy spectra, flux patterns, and the evolving average energy of these neutrinos. Additionally, we will discuss the potential for detecting these elusive particles. This talk is based on arXiv:2306.07659.
