Plasmaphysik Seminar

Probing the Quantum Vacuum with High Intensity Lasers

Description

High intensity lasers can reach the Schwinger Limit and beyond in the boosted frame of collisions with high energy particles. This is a largely untested frontier of physics with exotic phenomena such as vacuum birefringence and vacuum pair production. Current experimental activities and scientific opportunities will be discussed.
