Description

In May 2021, we conducted the experiment E153, titled "Multielectron recombination processes in He-like oxygen at the CRYRING@ESR electron cooler". Our proposal aimed to investigate highly correlated KK trielectronic recombination, where the resonant capture of an initially free electron to an ionic bound state transfers K-shell electrons to higher atomic shells. However, due to low ion beam intensity, we focused on stronger dielectronic recombination. Up to then, no experimental results for O6+ DR had been measured and given the importance of oxygen as one of the most abundant elements in the universe, the data is of particular importance for astrophysical modelling.

The high resolution DR spectra were measured by applying collision spectroscopy of ions merged with the cold electron beam of the electron cooler. After initial beam cooling, the electron beam was energy-detuned and served as a target. The resonant DR condition was achieved by scanning the relative electron-ion energy in the range predicted by theoretical models. I will present preliminary results of our data analysis in comparison to FAC calculations.
