Beschreibung

Various decays in nuclear and particle physics produce a quite wide range of long half-lives. In this talk we will explore some examples where half-lives are beyond the age of the Earth.

In this respect various processes like double beta decay and proton decay will be discussed. Techniques how to measure such long lifetimes and to reach this level of sensitivity will be discussed.

The experiments discussed will be embedded in the general environment in nuclear and particle physics.
