"New release 7.1 of the Multi Branch System (MBS) data acquisition"

MBS version 7.1 has been released and installed at GSI as production version in January 2026. It contains all improvements and bug fixes since 2023.

New MBS driver libraries support recent firmware improvements for KINPEX readout systems, such as enhanced GOSIP data link speed and PCIe DMA engine. Auxiliary software stacks to configure the often used TRLOII boards are also provided at the GSI installations. The integration of the mesytec MVLC readout controller for VMEbus modules has been consolidated concerning stability and runtime configuration features.

For the first time we sugges new user readout software MURX (Mbs User Readout for pcieXpress) on PCIe GOSIP systems, and SMURV (Standard Mbs User Readout software for Vmebus) on VMEbus processors. Both frameworks offer a modular and well-arranged source code organization in the user working directory, and optional configuration of the readout module setup at startup time with user editable "*.usf" text files.
