Description

The magnetic field environments of planets, named magnetospheres, are effective charged particle accelerators. In this talk I will take you on a journey to discuss how the ions of the solar origin and heavy ions of ionospheric or Iogenic origin are accelerated by up to several orders of magnitude in the magnetospheres of Earth and Jupiter. I will talk about measurements and the impact of energetic ions on space weather and instrumentation.
