Description
The space-charge dominated high intensity, high brightness charged particle beam provides a great tool for scientific discovery and industrial application. In this talk, I will introduce some activities associated with the study of high intensity, high brightness beams at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. I will discuss about some computational methods used in modeling those high intensity beams and then present two application examples: one is the recirculating superconducting proton linac and the other is the space-charge driven envelope instability in linear accelerators.
