DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Jonas Sommerfeldt (MPI-K Heidelberg)\n\n  \nDue to 
 their strong fields\, heavy atoms provide unique challenges and opportunit
 ies for QED theory as they often require a non-perturbative treatment of t
 he Coulomb interaction to match experiment. In this talk\, I will present 
 recent developments for the theory of x-ray scattering by heavy atoms. I w
 ill discuss the cross section and polarization properties for the inelasti
 c and elastic scattering channels\, which have contributions from Rayleigh
 \, Compton\, and Delbrück scattering. Moreover\, I will show the connecti
 on between Delbrück scattering and important contributions to the Lamb sh
 ift\, which are currently only known to lowest order and limit the possibi
 lity for strong-field QED tests with highly-charged ions."\n \n \n
