HEPTrepreneurs is the online series of events organised by HEPTech and GSI in collaboration with CERN dedicated to all members and partners of the network. The series focusses of High Energy Physics Entrepreneurship and covers various themes. The inspirational and interactive talks, round tables and keynotes are made for all those interested in entrepreneurship, but also for young people who want to know more about alternatives careers to research and for technology transfer officers looking for people to inspire. The meetings will include a presentation, a Q&A session and offers possibilities for networking.

About the speaker:

Dr Maria Nikolou is a seasoned leader with expertise in designing, developing, and delivering innovative programs, aimed at a target audience, focusing on business development, management, growth, and impact. She has a decade of experience working at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, creating successful synergies and strategic collaborations across various stakeholders, e.g. academic professors, and business leaders, and providing a platform for them to share knowledge, explore new opportunities, address market problems and world-scale challenges. 

As a scientist (PhD, Physics) with an MBA and an entrepreneurial mindset, Maria blends different perspectives and approaches to navigate complex organizational problems and deliver results. A firm believer in technological innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and customer centricity, she has spent more than 20 years working in the higher education and industry sector across the USA and Europe responsible for program delivery from conception to operational excellence. 

Content of the webinar:

  • Exploring the diverse roles scientists can play in technology start-ups, including R&D, product development, business strategy, and leadership positions.
  • Providing participants with a clearer understanding of how their scientific skills can be translated into impactful contributions within entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Facilitating an open dialogue on career transitions, challenges, and opportunities within the start-up landscape.

This workshop is ideal for scientists considering entrepreneurship, those interested in joining start-ups, or individuals looking to expand their roles within tech-driven organizations.
