Description
Scanned carbon ion beam therapy was developed at GSI and is in daily clinical use since the start of the Heidelberg Ion Beam Therapy center in 2009. To date, more than 1000 patients have been treated at HIT using protons as well as carbon ion beams. GSI biophysics is still conducting frontier research in this field, often in collaboration with international partners. The talk will focus on current developments in this field with an emphasis on research related to treatment of tumors moving due to respiration.
