DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Silvia Masciocchi (GSI & Uni Heidelberg)\n\nVery hig
h energy densities are reached in ultra-relativistic collisions of heavy i
ons. Under these conditions\, the confinement in strongly-interacting matt
er is lifted\, and a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is formed. At the highest te
mperatures realized in the laboratory\, this system offers us the opportun
ity to study QCD matter under extreme conditions.\nThe successful heavy-io
n program at the LHC provides data of increasing precision. I will illustr
ate how experimental evidence supports the description of the QGP by fluid
dynamics. This has been recently extended to include even rare and penetr
ating probes such as heavy quarks.\nThrough this description and making us
e of neural networks and Bayesian inference\, we are able to determine fun
damental properties of QCD with increasing precision.\nA quick look into t
he formidable detectors with which we gain this evidence in ALICE will com
 plete the overview.\n\nhttps://indico.gsi.de/event/20149/
