Description
Hello everyone and welcome to the Geant4 Tutorial/Workshop,

The tutorial/Workshop (basic level) is mainly aimed to graduate students
in the fields of Nuclear and Particle Physics and any field that deals with
radiation and particle detection.

It is highly recommended that the participants have at least a basic level of understanding of C++ and UNIX like operating systems.

The goal is to learn step by step using the Geant4 toolkit and developing a
Geant4 application. The program will consist of some lectures and hands
on activities. 


The following topics will be covered:

* Virtual machine installation follow-up
* How to write a Geant4 application
* Definition of geometry and materials
* Definition of the primary particle sources
* Definition of physical processes and selection of a physics list
* User interfaces, macros, visualization
* How to describe detector outputs (tracker type/calorimeter type)
* ROOT histogramming
* Hands-on
* Geant4 doxygen and LXR


Time:
4 lectures during the weekends typically each Saturday from 16:00 to 18:00

Equipment:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops (VMware player already installed)
