In the talk a theoretical approach describing multiscale kinetics of excitation and relaxation of materials around trajectories of swift heavy ions decelerated in the electronic stopping regime will be presented. A quantitative model describing SHI-induced processes is based on the original Monte-Carlo TREKIS code [1], which uses no fitting parameters for simulating electron kinetics and electron-lattice coupling in SHI tracks. This stage includes modeling of SHI impact, creation and transport of delta-electrons, electron cascades and propagation of secondary electrons, Auger and radiative decays of core holes. It forms initial conditions for further ab-initio simulations, molecular dynamics model [2], as well as for a unique developed model of chemical activation and etching of tracks [3].
Results of successful applications of the multiscale approach to different materials irradiated with SHIs will be demonstrated. Possible non-additive effects resulting from characteristic scales of SHI tracks kinetics on material excitation under high-intensity SHI beams planned at FAIR facility and application of presented multiscale approach to description of these effects will be discussed.
