Dear colleague, We are pleased to announce the first "Nordic Winter Meeting on Physics @ FAIR", to be held from March 22 through 26, 2010 in Björkliden, Sweden. Björkliden is an exotic winter resort situated 250 km north of the Arctic Circle. The meeting will be directed towards the upcoming physics program and related theory efforts at FAIR, the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany. The scope of the meeting will reflect the broad research interest that is represented by scientists in the Nordic countries * Atomic physics * Hadron physics * Hot and dense matter * Nuclear astrophysics * Nuclear reactions * Nuclear structure and ground-state properties In particular, the meeting aims to bring together internationally renowned experts at this critical moment in time when FAIR experiments and FAIR-related theory should begin to materialise. A description of the scope of the meeting and additional information can be found on the workshop website http://www.nordicfair.se Registration and abstract submission will open shortly. Note that attendance will be limited to about 60 participants. Please forward this announcement to any of your colleagues who might be interested in attending the meeting. In particular to young colleagues who might be missing from our communities' mailing lists. With best regards, The local organizing committee, * Torbjörn Bäck, Stockholm * Joakim Cederkäll, Lund * Christian Forssén, Göteborg (chair) * Hans Fynbo, Aarhus * Morten Hjorth-Jensen, Oslo * Rauno Julin, Jyväskylä * Eva Lindroth, Stockholm * Thomas Nilsson, Göteborg (SFAIR-liaison) * Per-Erik Tegnér, Stockholm (co-chair) Please excuse if you receive this announcement more than once, since we are using various mailing lists.
