Description
After few years of planning and realization, CRYRING@ESR is presently undergoing commissioning and most parts of the expected functionality could be already demonstrated. Once the ring is fully running and integrated to the GSI beam topology, it shall allow a strong physics program in the fields of atomic physics, nuclear collisions, materials science or biophysics. The new facility will yield unprecedented access to intense beams of heavy, highly charged ions at low energies. This talk shall give an overview of the planned facility, review the present status and highlight some of the future experiments.
