Description
Within the last two decades laser accelerated particle beams gained a wide interest in different disciplines in physics. The ultra-short particle pulse duration and the high flux compared to standard accelerators made this source unique e.g. in terms of time resolved charged particle probing. One of the major drawbacks is the broad energy spectrum in combination with the relatively large opening angle of the beam, as well as the targetry at higher repetition rates. In this talk different experiments on energetic and spatial shaping of proton beams in laser-particle acceleration are presented. On the one hand by shaping of the incident laser beam on a flat metal foil the accelerated proton beam profile could be formed. On the other hand changing the target geometry itself has a significant impact on the generated proton beam. Besides the different experimental results numerical simulations allow a closer look into the ongoing mechanisms.
