The workshop is organized for R3B members who are involved in software development and who are going to, or already do contribute to the R3BRoot framework. The aim is to extend the practical experience in writing code and in using the version control system "git". The workshop will start with a few introductory talks, followed by 2 days of tutorials and practical exercises. Both, simulation and data analysis will be covered.

Beginners are welcome but should already have basic knowledge of C++ and ROOT. You can have a look at beginner courses here: https://root.cern.ch/courses

Hardware requirements: Laptop. You will have the following possibilities, depending on the operating system of your computer:
  • Linux or macOS: SSH access to GSI; or Virtual Machine with pre-installed software; or a standalone installation.
  • Windows: SSH access to GSI; or Virtual Machine with pre-installed software.
In addition, there is a limited number of desktops in the meeting room which are part of the GSI Linux cluster (account required).
